In a sequel, you would see the friend or his friend's kids go down in that canyon, only to find the hero still alive but with a twig for a peg leg. Perhaps others of his kind who fell in the canyon found him dying and helped him? Maybe all the ones who fell in are all missing a part of their body hence One Leg Canyon? Ideas, lol.

You NEED to make a sequel to this, where the friend goes down into the canyon and finds the hero still alive, but with a peg leg or branch helping him walk. I think it would be humbling for the hero to know that he saved his people, maybe they could even bring him back up to where his people are and regrow his leg? Just a thought.
